Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety
Is this qualification for me?
This Level 2 Award in the Principles of Fire Safety qualification is aimed at anyone involved in the management of fire safety who are based in any area where there is a potential risk of fire.
Learners gaining this qualification will know that fire safety is the responsibility of everyone and will recognise the causes of fire as well as knowing common hazards, the steps in a fire risk assessment and how to reduce the likelihood of fires.
What does the qualification cover?
Topics include:
- Hazards, risks and means of escape
- Common causes of fire in the workplace
- Hazards during or after a fire
- How fire can spread
- The steps within a fire risk assessment
- The types and uses of fire-fighting equipment
- The role of fire wardens in the workplace
How long will it take me?
The qualification is designed to take one full day to complete, when delivered face to face. You are also able to undertake this qualification online.
During the current Covid-19 pandemic this course is only available for online study. If you possess a computer/laptop (with Google Chrome installed) and another device with a camera (smart phone/tablet), you will be able to take the assessment at home.

How will I be assessed?
You are assessed by a 20 question multiple choice examination. Successful learners will need to achieve at least 60% (12 out of 20).
Are there any entry requirements?
It is expected that learners have a minimum understanding of Level 1 in Literacy.
