Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling (Manual Handling)

Is this qualification for me?

The Level 2 Award in Safe Moving and Handling qualification is an introduction to moving and handling activities for those starting work, returning to work or who need specific training in manual handling, as well as being a suitable qualification for refresher training.

Learners gaining this qualification will understand that moving and handling must be carried out correctly and will recognise its importance in ensuring a safer working environment.

What does the qualification cover?

Topics include:

  • Understand the reasons for safe manual handling
  • Understand how manual handling risk assessments contribute to improving health and safety
  • Understand the principles, types of equipment and testing requirements associated with manual handling safety
  • Be able to apply safe manual handling principles

How long will it take me?

The qualification is designed to last one full day, when delivered face to face. You are also able to undertake this qualification online.

During the current Covid-19 pandemic this course is only available for online study. If you possess a computer/laptop (with Google Chrome installed) and another device with a camera (smart phone/tablet), you will be able to take the multiple choice assessment at home.  Other arrangements will be made for the practical assessment on an individual basis.

How will I be assessed?

You are assessed by a 15 question multiple choice examination. Successful learners will need to achieve at least 60% (9 out of 15).

You are further assessed by practically demonstrating the correct techniques for lifting, turning, moving and lowering in a variety of simulations.

 

Are there any entry requirements?

It is expected that learners have a basic level of Literacy.
