Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) – required for the Gold Supervisory CSCS Card

Is this qualification for me?

The Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Work Supervision (Construction) qualification is for Construction Supervisors with the responsibility for checking, co-ordinating, and monitoring the quality of work carried out by Construction Operatives in civil engineering and building projects. It is designed to assess occupational competence in the workplace where learners are required to demonstrate skills and knowledge to a level required in the construction industry.

Successful learners who also complete the Supervisor’s CITB Health, Safety and Environment Test can apply for the Supervisory CSCS card (Gold card).

What does the qualification cover?

Mandatory topics include:

  • Confirming Work Activities and Resources for an Occupational Work Area in the Workplace
  • Developing and Maintaining Good Occupational Working Relationships in the Workplace
  • Implementing and Maintaining Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
  • Co-ordinating and Organising Work Operations in the Workplace
  • Monitoring Progress of Work Against Schedules in the Workplace

Learners must also complete two of the following optional topics:

  • Allocating and Monitoring the Use of Plant and Equipment in the Workplace
  • Confirming Work Meets Quality Standards in the Workplace
  • Implementing Procedures to Support the Team’s Performance in the Workplace
  • Co-ordinating and Confirming Dimensional Control of Requirements of the Work in the Workplace

How long will it take me?

The qualification is evidenced based and is designed to be completed mainly in the workplace. Therefore, the length of the qualification is flexible for each learner and can be taken over either a condensed period or a longer duration. This is generally between 3 and 18 months.

How will I be assessed?

This is an evidenced based qualification. Learners must provide evidence to prove that they have met all the learning outcomes.

Learners will also be observed in the workplace.

Are there any entry requirements?

It is expected that learners have a minimum understanding of Level 1 in Literacy.
